Mural Painting, Yanhuitlan
at the front of the town hall representing yanhuitlans history
Transforming the history of this town into a mural collage was an enriching interdisciplinary project, for the community, local heritage conservation, artistic exchange and my personal understanding of this very amazing culture.
In the villages of Mexico, artistic expression – through music, painting and dance – still plays a much greater part in people’s everyday lives: What a good reason to question our society’s values from time to time.
I contributed by assisting in removing the old plaster, reinforcing the wall with COP, patching holes, applying lime plaster, and painting the mural - in this step the kids of the village were included - using natural pigments.
Collaborating with the team was immensely enjoyable and I am proud I have been part of this project.
